Who We Are
Know Your Numerology (“we”, “us”) runs the website knowyournumerology.com. This policy covers the numerology calculator on the home page, the name and number correction tool on the Solution page, the Contact form, and the site in general.
We run the site on a server of our own. We do not use an outside hosting company, content delivery network, analytics service or advertising network.
What We Collect
Only what you give us, plus what your browser sends automatically when it asks for a page.
| When you… | We receive | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|
| Press Calculate on the home page or the Solution page | The full name, date of birth and gender you entered | Used to build your report or tool on our server. A record of the request is saved. |
| Check a mobile number in the correction tool | The digits you typed, with the name, date of birth and gender above | Checked against your chart. A record is saved once the number is complete (ten digits); a partial number is checked but not saved. |
| Use Download PDF, Share or Copy link on a report | The fact that you did, with the name, date of birth and gender of that report | A record is saved. |
| Type a spelling into the name checker | The spelling | Checked and sent back to you. Not saved. |
| Send a message on the Contact page | Your name, email address, mobile number if you give one, and your message | Saved so that we can read it and reply. |
| Open any page | Your IP address, the time, the page asked for, the page that linked to it, and your browser and device type | Recorded by the web server in its standard logs, to keep the site secure and to find faults. |
Every saved record also carries the time and a code made from your IP address with a secret key (a keyed one-way hash). We use that code only to limit how many requests one connection can make. It cannot be turned back into your IP address.
Share links. A share link carries the report’s name, date of birth and gender sealed inside it, so anyone who has the link can open the report. We do not store share links. Send one only to people you trust.
Why We Use It
- To build the report or tool you asked for.
- To keep a record of requests made on the site.
- To read your message and reply to you.
- To keep the site secure and to stop abuse.
We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to advertisers.
How It Is Protected
- The site is served over HTTPS only (TLS 1.2 or 1.3). Plain http is redirected.
- Before anything you enter in the calculator, the correction tool or the Contact form leaves your browser, it is encrypted again to a public key that belongs to our server, so that only our server can read it.
- Each saved record is encrypted before it is written to the database. The database and the key that opens it are kept outside the folder the web server publishes, and the key sits in a separate folder with restricted access.
- Nightly backups are copies of that encrypted database.
These measures protect your records if the database file is copied or backed up on its own. No online system can promise absolute security.
Who Else Is Involved
- Google Fonts. The site’s typefaces are loaded from Google. Your browser asks Google’s servers for them, so Google receives your IP address and browser details, as set out in Google’s own privacy policy.
- Google Translate. The language menu can show the site in another language. The Google Translate tool is loaded only when the site is set to a language other than English, by choosing one in the menu or by opening a link that asks for one. From then on the text on the page, including any report on screen with the name you entered, is sent to Google to be translated. If you stay in English, nothing is sent to Google for translation.
- The law. We may disclose information if we are required to by law.
Apart from these, we do not share your details with anyone.
Cookies and Browser Storage
- googtrans cookie. Set when you choose a language, so that the site stays in that language. It holds only the language pair (for example “/en/hi”) and lasts a year. Google’s translation tool may set cookies of its own while it is in use.
- Session storage. Your browser tab keeps the name, date of birth and gender you last used, so that your report is still there when you go to another page and come back. It is removed when you close the tab, and it is used only to ask our server to build the report again, which does not create a new record.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
How Long We Keep It
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Saved calculator and tool records, and contact messages | For as long as we need them for the purposes above, or until you ask us to delete them. |
| Backups | Nightly copies are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically. A record you ask us to delete is gone from our backups within 30 days of leaving the live database. |
| Server logs | 60 days, then deleted automatically. They cannot be searched by name. |
Your Choices
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it; or
- stop using it, which withdraws the consent you gave when you pressed Calculate or Send Message.
Write to us through the Contact page and give the name and date of birth you entered in the calculator, or the mobile number or email address you used. Our records are encrypted, so we find them using those details. We may ask you a question to be sure the request is yours before we change or remove anything, and we aim to reply within 30 days. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did with your details before you withdrew it.
The calculator needs a name, date of birth and gender to build a report. A mobile number and a message are never required. If you are not happy with how we have handled your details, you may also complain to the data-protection authority in your country.
Children
The site is not aimed at children. If you are under 18, please use it together with a parent or guardian. If you think a child’s details have reached us, tell us through the Contact page and we will delete them.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how we handle your details, we will update this page and the date at the top. Please look back from time to time.
